In an exciting advancement for the construction and landscaping industries, AI platform Bobyard has launched Bobyard 2.0. This latest update promises to revolutionize the estimating process, offering accelerated takeoff workflows and a unified AI workbench designed specifically for estimators. These professionals are critical to project budgeting, ensuring accurate calculations that keep projects on track and within budget.
Takeoff operations—a fundamental aspect of estimating—entail analyzing detailed material needs and quantities required for various construction tasks. By speeding up these operations, Bobyard 2.0 significantly reduces the risks of errors that often arise with manual measurements. This enhancement leads to fewer costly surprises, ultimately resulting in a smoother construction process.
Key Features of Bobyard 2.0
One of the standout features of Bobyard 2.0 is its integration of materials and costs through a ‘measure first, price later’ model. This innovative approach not only saves time but also minimizes errors during the transition from takeoff to finalized bids.
The new Multi-Measure feature takes efficiency up a notch, allowing estimators to draw once and automatically generate all related measurements—area, perimeter, and total volume—simultaneously. This significantly reduces the need for repetitive measurements, freeing up time for estimators to focus on other crucial aspects of the project.
Bobyard has also consolidated its AI tools into a comprehensive AI Workbench. One particularly useful addition is the Review Workflow option, which empowers estimators to review and adjust AI-generated outputs before they are included in the takeoff process. This feature ensures that estimators retain control over the data, adding a layer of reliability to the AI’s findings.
Another update enhancing user flexibility is the Legend Manager. This function provides a dedicated space for users to create and manage symbols and pattern legends. Additionally, the new Text Count feature converts words or labels within drawings into count measurements, making it easier for estimators to track and quantify project needs accurately.
Bobyard emphasizes that “once your takeoff is done, you shouldn’t have to rebuild anything to get to a finalized estimate.” The process of importing pricing and assemblies into the Estimate Table of Bobyard 2.0 is described as “simpler and more streamlined.” This improvement allows users to move seamlessly from takeoff to a production-ready estimate without the tedious necessity of exporting data to Excel or duplicating efforts. This feature distinctly positions Bobyard 2.0 as a significant upgrade for estimators.
Navigation enhancements in Bobyard 2.0 mean greater ease of use for all users, with features like cross-page search implemented to facilitate quicker access to information. Overall, the workflow from takeoff to final estimates is greatly streamlined, allowing users to remain within the platform without the disruption of switching tools.
Last year, Bobyard secured $35 million in Series A funding, led by 8VC with participation from Pear VC and Caffeinated Capital. This significant investment underscores the market’s demand for innovative solutions in the construction and landscaping sectors.
Currently, Bobyard’s platform automates up to 70% of the quantity and material takeoff process. Contractors using Bobyard report an average reduction of 65% in takeoff times. Moreover, estimators are successfully submitting three to five times more bids while achieving greater accuracy and enhanced margins with improved win rates. Michael Ding, the founder and CEO of Bobyard, noted, “Every change we made was driven by what our customers told us they needed to move faster, stay in control, and spend less time doing work that software should be doing for them. This is our answer to that, and it’s only the beginning.”
Marty Grunder, founder of The Grow Group and Grunder Landscaping, praised the platform, stating, “The AI tools are on another level. We’re talking cutting takeoff time in half on real jobs. If you’re trying to level up your estimating this season, there’s nothing else like this on the market. Period.”
Launched on April 8, Bobyard 2.0 is currently available for landscaping contractors, with plans to introduce the platform to additional construction trades by late April. As the landscape of construction technology evolves, tools like Bobyard 2.0 are paving the way for increased efficiency, accuracy, and productivity in the industry.
