At the recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 25), Apple showcased a range of exciting updates across its ecosystem, including a new aesthetic dubbed “Liquid Glass” and a refreshed naming convention for its products and services. However, many attendees were left hanging regarding one of the most anticipated updates: a more personalized, AI-driven version of Siri. In the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, this delay raises eyebrows, especially with competitors like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic consistently releasing new features and upgrades.

Revisiting Expectations: The Personalized Siri

First unveiled at WWDC 24, the upcoming more personalized version of Siri promises to leverage AI to significantly improve the user experience. Apple initially pitched this upgrade as a “next big step” for the company, saying Siri would better understand users by integrating their “personal context”—covering relationships, routines, and communications. This endeavor aimed not just to improve Siri’s responsiveness but to enable users to take seamless actions across various applications.

Quality Over Speed: The Challenges Ahead

Despite the initial excitement, reports indicate that the in-development version of the revamped Siri has encountered several issues. According to Bloomberg, Siri was operating correctly just two-thirds of the time, making it unsuitable for deployment at this stage. This revelation prompted Apple to officially announce a delay in the project timeline.
