EY Unveils a New Era in Physical AI with NVIDIA Partnership

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly integrating into the physical realm, shifting how businesses operate across various sectors. Ernst & Young (EY) has taken a significant step in this transformation by introducing a structured approach for organizations to collaborate with robots, drones, and other smart devices. This initiative features a cutting-edge physical AI platform built on NVIDIA’s advanced technology, the launch of EY.ai Lab in Georgia, and the recruitment of new leadership to steer this innovative venture.

EY has structured the platform around three critical components:

  1. AI-Ready Data: This includes synthetic data that mimics a broad spectrum of physical scenarios, ensuring comprehensive training for AI systems.

  2. Digital Twins and Robotics Training: Tools that connect digital and physical systems help monitor performance in real-time and maintain operational continuity.

Raj Sharma, EY’s Global Managing Partner for Growth & Innovation, emphasizes that physical AI is already revolutionizing operations across various sectors. The Role of EY.ai Lab

In conjunction with the platform launch, EY has established the EY.ai Lab in Alpharetta, Georgia—the first of its kind dedicated solely to physical AI. This facility is equipped with state-of-the-art robotics systems, sensors, and simulation technologies, allowing organizations to explore new ideas and build prototypes safely and effectively.

Dr. Youngjun Choi has been appointed as the Global Physical AI Leader, bringing nearly two decades of experience in robotics and AI. His prior role at UPS’s Robotics AI Lab involved pioneering work on digital twins and AI tools that revamped operational networks. At the EY.ai Lab, Choi is tasked with not just overseeing projects, but also helping shape EY’s advisory capabilities in the physical AI landscape.

Testing Ground for Innovation

The EY.ai Lab will allow organizations to:

  • Design and Test Physical AI Systems: Use a virtual testbed to refine and validate ideas.
  • Develop Solutions for Next-Generation Robots: Focus on creating systems for humanoid, quadrupedal, and other advanced robotic forms.
  • Enhance Logistics and Manufacturing: Utilize digital twins to streamline operations, improve manufacturing processes, and refine maintenance strategies.

Future Collaboration and Expanded Focus

The new platform and lab are an expansion of EY and NVIDIA’s earlier collaborations, including an AI agent platform launched earlier this year. This partnership aims to broaden the application of physical AI across various sectors, such as energy and health, while also boosting projects aimed at automation that reduces waste and lessens environmental impact.

As industries continue to adopt robots and automation in response to workforce changes and safety needs, the EY.ai Lab, supported by NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure, is poised to play a crucial role.
