Two years ago, Microsoft and Hugging Face initiated their partnership to enhance accessibility to open models on Azure. Back then, Hugging Face had around 200,000 models available. Fast forward to today, and that number has skyrocketed to nearly 2 million. The expanded collaboration announced at Build aims to create a robust framework that allows Azure customers to easily integrate Hugging Face models into their applications.

Asha Sharma, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, emphasized the importance of open-source AI, stating, "Open source is how AI moves faster—with transparency, choice, and community at its core." This collaboration aims to provide developers with the freedom to choose the best models for their projects while ensuring enterprise-grade security and scalability.

Clement Delangue, CEO and co-founder of Hugging Face, added that this initiative empowers companies to control their AI destiny. By securely deploying open models within their Azure accounts, organizations can build reliable and verifiable AI applications.

With the integration of Hugging Face’s extensive model library into Azure AI Foundry, developers can now find over 10,000 models ready for deployment. This collection includes a diverse range of models tailored for various tasks involving text, audio, and images.

Deploying a model from the Hugging Face Collection is a straightforward process. Simply navigate to the Model Catalog in Azure AI Foundry, select a model, and click the “Deploy” button. A deployment form will prompt you to choose your virtual machine (VM), instance count, and deployment parameters. With just a few clicks, your desired model is ready to go!

For those who prefer browsing models directly on the Hugging Face Hub, the “Deploy on Azure ML” option seamlessly redirects users to the Azure AI Machine Learning Studio for deployment.
