At a glamorous launch event during CES in Las Vegas, Lenovo introduced Qira, an innovative system-level AI assistant designed to operate seamlessly across Lenovo laptops and Motorola smartphones. By leveraging infrastructures from Microsoft and OpenAI via Azure, alongside integrations with Stability AI’s diffusion models and various app partners, Qira is built for versatility.

Jeff Snow stated, "We didn’t want to hard-code ourselves to one model. This space is moving too fast." This adaptability ensures Qira can change and improve with evolving technology, offering tailored performance based on individual user needs.

Lenovo’s approach isn’t without historical context. In the past, Snow worked on Motorola’s AI assistant, Moto AI, which had a promising start but struggled with user retention. Many users initially engaged with the assistant, yet found it lacked continuity and context, ultimately choosing options that felt more familiar or accessible. Understanding this, Lenovo is avoiding pitfalls by emphasizing features that chatbots traditionally do not provide.

While Qira does not raise baseline system requirements for PCs, it does perform best on high-end systems with greater RAM capacities.
