In an age where artificial intelligence is revolutionizing various sectors, Hance identified the opportunity to enhance audio processing specifically through noise reduction and isolation. By utilizing an extensive library of high-quality recordings—including the thunderous roar of F1 cars and the dramatic rumble of Icelandic volcanoes—Hance trained AI models that are both compact and efficient.

These models have been fine-tuned to a mere 242 kB, which allows them to operate directly on devices rather than relying on cloud processing. This not only saves time but also significantly reduces energy consumption, making real-time audio clarity feasible even in fast-paced environments.

What sets Hance apart from other audio processing solutions is its ability to operate efficiently on devices of varying sizes, producing results in real time. The software can effectively separate sounds, diminish background noise, and boost speech clarity—all with an impressive latency of just 10 milliseconds. These capabilities make it an essential tool for industries ranging from motorsports and law enforcement to defense applications.

As highlighted in an interview with TechCrunch’s Joote Hika, this real-time processing makes Hance ideal for F1 radios or the audio communication kits used during FIFA events.

Strategic Partnerships and Future Growth

Hance’s partnership with Intel marks a significant step forward, enabling the startup to adapt its models for different Intel chip versions, including cutting-edge neural processing units. As Hance expands its outreach within the tech community, talks are underway with other chipmakers and even a major smartphone manufacturer to further enhance its audio capabilities.

The founders have made it clear that while these professional partnerships are non-exclusive and expected to last for several years, maintaining innovation will be crucial for Hance’s growth trajectory.

Hance recently appointed its first Chief Commercial Officer, yet the team intends to remain heavily focused on research and development. Joote Hika emphasizes the need for "AI-capable" talent as they scale the company, ensuring they maintain their competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving market.

He asserts, “We know that we now have an advantage over our competitors, but we definitely have to keep that up, so we’re pushing fast.”
