Google has announced the rollout of exciting new AI-powered features aimed at transforming travel planning and booking in Search. With the expansion of its AI-driven “Flight Deals” tool and the innovative “Canvas” tool in AI Mode, users can now make travel plans easier than ever. The tech giant is also broadening access to agentic booking capabilities, making travel organization more efficient for everyone.
Initially launched in August for users in the U.S., Canada, and India, the “Flight Deals” tool is now going global, making its way to over 200 countries and territories. This tool leverages artificial intelligence to help users quickly identify affordable travel destinations and maximize their travel budget.
Getting started with Flight Deals is seamless. Users simply specify their travel preferences, including the destination, travel dates, and any specific requirements they may have. The AI technology then sifts through a myriad of options to present the best available bargains, streamlining the search process significantly.
With its expansion, the Flight Deals tool now supports over 60 languages, making it more accessible for international travelers. Regions including the U.K., France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, and Korea are among those benefiting from these enhanced capabilities.
In addition to Flight Deals, Google is introducing new features in AI Mode that allow users to plan their trips using the Canvas tool. This innovative utility, originally designed for organizing information and study plans, has evolved to help users create comprehensive travel itineraries.
To use AI Mode with Canvas, users can indicate the type of travel experience they are interested in and select the “Create with Canvas” option. This generates a personalized plan in the side panel, harnessing real-time data from Google Search to display flights and hotel options, alongside rich details from Google Maps such as photos, reviews, and essential information about local attractions.
The suggestions provided by the tool are tailored to suit the user’s criteria, including hotel comparisons based on price, amenities, and proximity to popular activities. Users can explore these options interactively, asking follow-up questions and considering tradeoffs, such as the balance between a hotel’s location and nearby dining experiences or outdoor activities.

Currently, this enriched travel planning functionality is piloted on desktop for users in the U.S. who have opted into the AI Mode experiment in Labs, demonstrating Google’s commitment to continuously enhancing user experience in travel planning.
Alongside the innovative travel planning tools, Google is expanding the capabilities of AI Mode in the realm of agentic booking for everyone in the U.S. Previously a feature limited to experimental users, this improvement allows users to make reservations for restaurants, events, and wellness appointments with ease.
For example, users can specify preferences such as party size, date, time, and location when requesting dinner reservations. The AI Mode then conducts a search across various reservation platforms to retrieve real-time availability, presenting a curated list of options that meet the user’s criteria.
In the near future, Google plans to enable users to complete bookings directly through the AI Mode. This means users will be able to describe their desired flights and hotel requirements and receive comparative options that include schedules, pricing, room photos, amenities, and reviews, all in one streamlined interface.
