This collaboration is set to pave the way for an AI factory supercomputer, equipped with state-of-the-art Nvidia Blackwell infrastructure, designed to empower researchers, startups, and various industries across the region.

The Taiwan National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) will leverage this supercomputer to provide essential AI cloud computing resources. This strategic move aims to accelerate the development and adoption of AI technologies across diverse sectors, thereby fueling innovation and growth in Taiwan’s tech ecosystem.

TSMC’s Vision for Advanced Research

Prominent players like TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) plan to utilize this supercomputer to leapfrog their research and development efforts. With the new AI system, TSMC researchers anticipate achieving performance levels that are orders of magnitude faster than those offered by prior-generation systems. This capability will be pivotal in advancing semiconductor technology and developing next-generation solutions for global customers.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, highlighted the transformative potential of AI during his keynote at Computex 2025 in Taiwan. He remarked, “AI has ignited a new industrial revolution — science and industry will be transformed.” Huang expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Foxconn and Taiwan, emphasizing the project’s role in bolstering the island’s AI infrastructure and supporting innovation in the era of AI and robotics.

In alignment with this vision, Young Liu, chairman and CEO of Foxconn, stated, “Foxconn builds technology that underpins modern life, and now, we’re building computing infrastructure to scale the next generation of breakthroughs across Taiwan.” He underscored the importance of connecting various stakeholders, including government organizations and enterprises like TSMC, to accelerate innovation.

C.C. Wei, chairman and CEO of TSMC, echoed these sentiments, asserting that innovation is central to TSMC’s operations. He noted that the advanced AI infrastructure would empower researchers to accelerate breakthroughs in semiconductor technology, thereby reinforcing the company’s commitment to AI-driven innovation.

Taiwan’s Ambitious AI Vision

Minister Wu Cheng-Wen of the NSTC laid out an ambitious roadmap for Taiwan’s AI future. He shared plans to create an AI-focused industrial ecosystem in southern Taiwan, aimed at fostering innovative research, developing a robust AI industry, and promoting the everyday use of AI tools. Wu expressed a desire to transform Taiwan into a “smart AI island” filled with smart cities, and he looks forward to collaborating with Nvidia and Foxconn to realize this vision.

Technical Specifications and Benefits of the AI Factory

The Big Innovation Cloud AI factory will be powered by Nvidia Blackwell Ultra systems, including the Nvidia GB300 NVL72 rack-scale solution. It will incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as Nvidia NVLink, Nvidia Quantum InfiniBand, and Nvidia Spectrum-X Ethernet networking.

Foxconn’s role as an Nvidia Cloud Partner extends beyond mere hardware provision. Big Innovation Cloud also aims to participate in the Nvidia DGX Cloud Lepton marketplace, which will facilitate access to advanced GPU resources for a diverse range of enterprises, from startups to established industry leaders.
