One of the guiding principles of our publication is that authors retain ownership of their work. This belief hasn’t changed since we launched our independent site earlier this year; on the contrary, it has become more pronounced. However, we recognized that a crucial feature was missing: the ability for authors to directly edit their articles. Many of our community members highlighted this as a must-have feature, and we listened.
We are excited to announce that, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team and partners, authors now have editing access to all their previously published work on TDS. This update applies to both articles that were migrated to our site prior to its official launch and those accepted directly onto our new platform.
Great Power, Great Responsibility
Our relationship with contributors is rooted in trust and respect. We invest significant time and energy into our initial screening and review process. Consequently, we have cultivated a publication boasting hundreds of writers whose professional expertise aligns seamlessly with their integrity. With the power to edit published articles comes a responsibility to use this capability wisely.
We encourage authors to approach edits judiciously. Correcting a typo that didn’t get caught, adjusting a chart based on reader feedback, or adding a link to a new relevant resource are all reasonable post-publication changes. We also understand that some older articles may need a bit of reformatting after migrating to our new site, and addressing these issues is perfectly acceptable.
However, we ask authors to refrain from making any significant changes to published articles without first discussing it with our team. You can reach out via email or directly from your article to initiate this conversation. Should you feel that an article deserves a more comprehensive revision, we are more than willing to work collaboratively to explore the best path forward.
How Editing Works
Whether you’ve already published with us or are newly joining our platform, making tweaks to your articles is straightforward. Simply navigate to your list of articles (note: this link requires you to be logged into the TDS Contributor Portal), hover over the article you wish to edit, and either click on the title or the Edit button.

Once you’ve made your changes, we highly recommend previewing them to see how they will appear on our site’s front end. You can do this by looking for the laptop icon near the top-right corner of the editor screen and clicking on Preview in new tab. This is particularly important if you’ve made modifications to visual elements in your article.

If everything looks satisfactory from your end, don’t forget to click the Save button to make your edits live. This action also informs our team about the changes made to a published article, allowing us to do a quick double-check to ensure everything is in order.
We genuinely hope every article published on TDS remains here, but we acknowledge that there are times when authors might wish to remove their work from our site. Up until now, you needed to contact us to delete articles. With this update, you can now handle it yourself. In your article list, simply look for the Mark as Deleted button under the relevant title. Of course, feel free to reach out to us before you take that step—in many scenarios, we can resolve the issues that led you to consider deletion in the first place.
Onwards and Upwards!
With this new editing feature, we’ve achieved a significant milestone in the improvements we aimed to offer authors on TDS. To all of you who have inquired about editing access since our site launched, we appreciate your patience. We look forward to publishing more of your contributions in the near future, especially now that our Author Payment Program has been running smoothly for several months. If you’re not yet a TDS author but are interested in joining our community, we’d love to see your work!
