Evaluation across 19 different MLLMs has revealed that models demonstrating enhanced multi-image reasoning abilities may unintentionally introduce new risk factors. This is particularly concerning given that many tasks are being executed based on input that is not only complex but layered, potentially obscuring the model’s ability to make ethically sound decisions.

Attack Success Rates and Safety Boundaries

One of the key findings from studies surrounding MIR-SafetyBench is the alarming correlation between attack success rates and the sophistication of multi-image reasoning capabilities. Higher rates of success in attacks raise questions regarding the effectiveness of safety protocols embedded within these models.
