Trained on a staggering 40 billion tokens, ProLong-8B exhibits exceptional long-context performance, particularly at a length of 128K tokens. Notably, it surpasses the performance of Llama-3.1-8B-Instruct on the majority of long-context tasks while leveraging only 5% of the tokens required for long-context training, marking a significant advancement in model efficiency.

Extraordinary Capability of Processing Tokens

Another remarkable feature of ProLong is its ability to handle an astounding input length of up to 512K tokens, making it one of the models with the longest context windows currently available in the public domain. This capability opens new possibilities for applications requiring in-depth context analysis and understanding, showcasing the potential of effective training methodologies in NLP.
